I got married today. The actual wedding is tommorrow though, today was just the paperwork. The reason for this is that I can't get married in a church (due to religious reasons, also known as lack of belonging to one). We're having a blessing of our union in the church tomorrow, and after that it's the usual shebang with food, drink, dance and so on.

The next morning we'll leave for our honeymoon, in Greece for two weeks. Don't expect any updates for a while.

Pre-marrital havoc

My marriage is creeping closer and my ability to update here is shrinking in proportion. None the less a few things caught my eye which I feel deserve more attention.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced on June 25, 2003, that it will begin suing users of peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing systems within the next few weeks.

Thus begins a page on the Electronic Frontier Foundation's (EFF's) web site, How Not To Get Sued By The RIAA For File-Sharing. I openly admit to using file sharing software. I don't use it because I don't wish to buy music, movies or software. I use it because I don't have to option to buy these things at a sensible price, nor at the convienience offered by such software.

The EFF has started a campain against the seeminly senseless action taken by the RIAA. Take a look and Let the Music Play. I won't parrot what's on the page, and my own oppinions are pretty much summed up there as well. Just take a look and think about it, OK?

One might wonder why I care about this, since I'm in snowy Finland... I still feel that the US is where the change needs to take place, then the rest of the world will probably follow suit.

Tom's Hardware Guide is running an excellent article on installing a network in a domestic environment, titled Building A Home Network From Scratch. It's an extremely worthwile read for anyone looking into the practical details of home network installation.

Fetaured on Slashdot, yes, I know... Parrot parrot.
