Music Instruments of the Future: The reactable
This got me pretty much speechless, so I'll just quote: The reactable is a collaborative electronic music instrument with a tabletop tangible multi-touch interface. Several simultaneous performers share complete control over the instrument by moving and rotating physical objects on a luminous round table surface. By moving and relating these objects, representing components of a classic modular synthesizer, users can create complex and dynamic sonic topologies, with generators, filters and modulators, in a kind of tangible modular synthesizer or graspable flow-controlled programming language.
That probably sounds like mumbo-jumbo to many of you, but take a look at these reactable videos and I'll guarantee you'll be amazed! (The YouTube link didn't work for me, but there are downloadable videos on the site too.)
Being a hobby musician, I've imagined interfaces similar to this one since school. But this is still leaps and bounds ahead of my wildest dreams.
